Packing Tip

Packing is usually one of the hardest steps during the moving process and it is vital to the organization of your move. Organized and meticulous packing will significantly decrease the chances of any damages to your belongings. Alpha Van Lines offers first-rate packing services to our valued customers, but we fully understand that there may be some limitation or hesitation, which is why we offer some important packing tips below.

General Packing Guidelines:

1. Pack early! When your move date if finalized, immediately start arranging all your items. The quicker your belongings are organized the easier and more efficient the move will be. This will also help assure a smooth transition to your new home.
• 2. Pack one room at a time: Make sure to mark each box by the room it will go in as this will make organizing items at your new home much easier.
• 3. Begin with smaller items like clothing, sheets, and books so you can get the organizing off to a quick start.
• 4. Heavier items should be tightly placed in boxes that have just enough room. Don’t try to pack too much into one box since it will more difficult to move and increase the chances of it breaking.
• 5. Empty the drawers of all of your furniture to allow for an easier handling when moving.
• 6. For valuables such as photo albums, legal documents and antiques pack them separately and take with you in a car or suite case.
• 7. With a computer make sure to backup all important files and you may want to move this separately
• 8. Use quality sturdy boxes and make sure to tape all openings, especially bottoms and around them to assure stability.
• 9. With replaceable or non-fragile items cheaper boxes can be used that can be obtained from local retailers like supermarkets to save money that can be wrapped with old newspapers
• 10. Save or resell your used boxes that you purchased for this move as another way to save money.
